Privacy Policy

Stillsense builds ambient safety technology that protects people without watching them. Privacy isn't a setting for us — it's the foundation of how the product works. This policy explains how we handle personal data on this website and in our service, and the rights you have under the GDPR and Norwegian personvern law.

1. Who we are

This site is operated by Stillsense AS (org. no. to be confirmed), based in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. For any privacy question you can reach us at privacy@stillsense.no.

2. Privacy by design (the product)

Stillsense senses presence, movement, and falls from the Wi-Fi already in a room. It is built so the most sensitive data simply never exists:

  • No camera, no microphone, no recording. No image, video, or audio is ever created.
  • Edge processing. Sensing and inference run on a device in the home; the raw Wi-Fi signal does not leave the premises. Only the derived events and alerts needed for safety are transmitted.
  • Data minimisation. Only the inferred events and states (presence, motion, bed-exit, fall, timestamps) needed for the safety purpose are processed and retained.

For care deployments, Stillsense acts as a data processor (databehandler) on the documented instructions of the care provider (the controller), under a data processing agreement (GDPR Art. 28). Those deployments are governed by that agreement, the controller's DPIA (personvernkonsekvensvurdering), and the lawful basis the controller relies on — public-task (Art. 6(1)(e)) and, for health data, Art. 9(2). See our Security & Compliance Sheet for the full posture.

3. Information we collect on this website

This marketing website collects very little:

  • Enquiries you send us. If you use a contact, demo, or early-access form, we receive what you submit — typically your name, organisation (optional), email, your message, and your consent to be contacted.
  • Technical logs. Standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) may be processed by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and operational.
  • Local preferences. Your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. How we use it, and the lawful basis

We use the information you send only to respond to and manage your enquiry, and to follow up about the demo, pilot, or partnership you asked about. The lawful bases are your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and operating the site securely (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and (f)). We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. Sharing

We keep sharing to a minimum. We may use trusted service providers (for example, website hosting and email) that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. Any such processing takes place within the EU/EEA. We do not share your information with advertisers.

6. Retention

We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to handle your request and any resulting relationship, then delete it. Technical logs are kept for a short period for security and then removed.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR and Norwegian personvern law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise any of these, contact privacy@stillsense.no. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no).

8. International transfers

We keep personal data within the EU/EEA. We will not transfer it outside the EEA without appropriate safeguards in place.

9. Security

We protect the data we do hold with current security practice — encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, and secure operations. Because the product creates no image or audio, the most sensitive data category doesn't exist in the first place. Details are in our Security & Compliance Sheet.

10. Children

This website is not directed at children. Where Stillsense is used in a care setting that involves vulnerable people, processing is carried out by the care provider as controller, on its lawful basis, under the data processing agreement.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and our practices evolve. We will post the updated version here and revise the date above.
